Here are some golf swing tips for chipping, pitching, backspin and putting. These are what I try to focus on while playing the game as I go through my pre-swing ritual in each situation.
Chipping Tips
- Strike the ball with a downward swing leading with the hands through the ball
- Put the ball back in your stance
- Keep the clubhead low on the follow through
Pitching Tips
- Start with the ball slightly forward in your stance and your hands centered in front of your body
- Swing the club and let it move your body, not your body moving the club
- Let the clubhead swing past your hands
Backspin Tips
- Open the clubface by shifting my left hand towards the target (right handed golfer)
- Move the ball up off my left foot (right handed golfer)
- Hit the ball then turf with a crisp downward strike
- Do not try to scoop the ball
Putting Tips
- Swing the putter with your arms not your shoulders
- Swing the clubhead without moving the handle very much
- Putt with an accelerating hit
Get out to the driving range and try these tips. If you are looking for other golf swing drills check out my Golf Club Regripping Website.
