Many times we forget to practice one of the most important things in golf. We continue to work on our swing but we never adjust our connection point: our grip!
“One of the best tips I ever heard regarding golf grip was "don't squeeze the toothpaste out of the tube." It's a common phrase explained in a way that even my children can understand. Basically, your grip on the club should be with your fingers of both hands and not with your palms. You should keep your overall pressure of the grip light, not like you are trying to squeeze toothpaste out of the tube.”
“I had some difficulty learning about the proper grip pressure when I was new to golf. The most of the grip pressure needs to be in the last three fingers of your left hand (if you are right handed) and there is no pressure at all in the thumb and forefinger of the right hand. This felt awkward to me at first, like I was going to slip or drop the club.” Quoted from Lisa Mason on Yahoo Sports
The time and effort we spend at the driving range should include some time getting our grip just right. Make one small change at a time; do not make multiple changes to your grip at once as it gets to be too awkward.
Your grip is your only connection to the golf club, so spend some time getting it right and make sure your golf club grips are in good condition. There should be no extra strokes added to your game because of your equipment.
Regrip your clubs after approximately 40 rounds of golf or once a year. Learn how to regrip golf clubs online as it is quite easy.
